The Education, Rehabilitation and Schooling Center provides many valuable services to low-income children, both handicapped and non-handicapped, who are at risk.
130 children are currently attending the Center regularly from Monday to Friday. Of these 130 children, almost 50% are afflicted with some form of physical and/or mental disability.
Our Mission Is:
To reach the needs of the economically, physically and mentally challenged children, teens, and young adults in order to enable them to attain the goals of independence and social integration. We provide: Education, Medical Services, Spiritual Discipleship, Rehabilitation, Vocational Training.
There is a $25 charge to process the application

CENIT, El Centro de la Niña Trabajadora, or the Center for the Working Girl as it is known in English, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to helping working children (especially working girls) and their families overcome grinding poverty and improve their quality of lives through education and job training, nutrition programs, health and social services, psychological help and recreation.
Minimum volunteer commitment is two months. there is a one time subscription fee of $75. Lunch is provided. Volunteers generally work Monday through Fridays.
CENIT is run by Catholic nuns from the order of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd and accepts volunteers regardless of race, religion or sexual preference.

We offer Ridingtherapy (Hipotherapy or therapeutic riding), Volting, horse back riding early estimulation for children from 1 to 6 years, recreation for disabled and “Global rehabilitation on the basic of hipotherapy” through the application of alternative and conventional therapies (Fisiotherapy, language therapy, occupational therapy, energy therapies, art therapy, theatre therapy and music therapy) to persons with different disabilities (autism, down syndrome, brain palsy, mental retardation, multiple sclerosis, poliomyelitis, bifid spine, blindness, deaf, anorexia, bulimia, problems with learning, language and behavior).
Depending on the intern´s expirience and interests, the tasks to be fulfilled at Foundation AM-EN are the following:
Cleaning and caretaking of horses, Cleaning of stables, Training of horses (Depending on intern´s experience), Caretaking of gardens, Assistance during riding therapy next to horses, looking after patient o guiding the horse), Assistance in the creation of micro enterprises with mothers of children with disabilities and marketing of goods, Assistance in office work, Assistance in fund raising (organization of events, public relations, etc.), Assistance in the cafeteria
There is a charge of $195 which includes pickup form the airport and orientation.
The centre offers free accommodation. Food is not provided.
